Gizmo hops into MultiVersus starting tomorrow

Don't expose your console to light, don't let it come into contact with water, and never play the game after midnight.

Gremlins is getting a bit of a resurgence right now. With an new animated series on the way, a new batch (hah) of fans is likely going to latch onto this classic 80s comedy-horror franchise. But the next place Gremlins will pop up is somewhat unexpected; the main Gremlin protagonist Gizmo is joining MultiVersus as a fighter.

The iconic Gremlins character was speculated to be coming to MultiVersus after another Gremlins-related character leaked. It’s also an addition that makes perfect sense considering the game’s melting pot of classic and modern pop culture. Gizmo fits right alongside characters like Shaggy and the Iron Giant, and it’s a testament to Warner Bros.‘ recommitment to the Gremlins franchise. (Not to mention that it’s also a great tie-in to the new show.)

Gizmo will head to MultiVersus tomorrow on Sept. 8 as the second DLC character of Season 1. See his gameplay card below, courtesy of the official MultiVersus Twitter account:

Bringing Gizmo the mogwai to MultiVersus

This character brings a moveset full of references to the classic film franchise. Gizmo is equipped with his Hunter’s Bow which can be charged to launch an arrow, and can ignite foes if fully charged. His Gizmo-a-Go-Go move lets him launch onto the backs of allies to support them. He can also use the Song of the Mogwai to spawn musical notes that can damage nearby enemies.

Gizmo will be the first Gremlins character to join MultiVersus, but we already know that he will not be the last. A few weeks ago, it was leaked that another Gremlin, Stripe, will also come to the game. He doesn’t have a set release date yet, though we imagine it might be a little while since Gizmo is only just being added.

What do you think of Gizmo’s inclusion in MultiVersus? Which characters do you hope join the roster next? Let us know!
