Record of Lodoss War Chronicle release date revealed

You may or may not remember the Record of Lodoss War series. Originally beginning as a fantasy novel, the franchise went on and expanded to various manga, anime, and games. Now, D4 Enterprise has revealed the release date for the upcoming Record of Lodoss War Chronicle, with multiple titles in the compilation available in Japan.

What titles are included?

We first heard about Record of the Lodoss War Chronicle back in April 2021 and had been anticipating a release sometime this spring. All games originate from the PC-9801, MSX2, and Super Famicom (SNES). The collection initially expected fewer titles, but the publisher went on to add the X68000 versions of the first three titles, which includes better graphics.

Titles included:

  • Record of Lodoss War: Haiiro no Majo (The Grey Witch) (PC-9801, MSX2, X68000)
  • Record of Lodoss War II: Goshiki no Maryu (The Five-Colored Demon Dragon) (PC-9801, X68000)
  • Fukujinzuke (PC-9801, MSX2, X68000)
  • Fukujinzuke 2 (PC-9801)
  • Fukujinzuke 3 (PC-9801)
  • Record of Lodoss War (Super Famicom/SNES)
  • Sword World PC (PC-9801)
  • Sword World SFC (Super Famicom/SNES)
  • Sword World SFC2 (Super Famicom/SNES)

The project EGG YouTube channel showcased the different games in the collection, which you can watch below.

Record of Lodoss War Chronicle release date

Expect to see Record of Lodoss War Chronicle releasing on August 31, 2022. These titles only come to Japan, so if you’re from somewhere else and don’t speak Japanese, you may have to find a workaround. Regardless, it’d be a nice set of games to have sitting in your collection.

If you haven’t pre-ordered yet, you’re out of luck to receive on exactly that date, as only the first wave of pre-orders will arrive by then. However, you can still pre-order the second batch for 11,000 yen (~$82). Second batch orders should arrive sometime around September 2022.
