SEGA AGES G-LOC Air Battle prepares to land on Nintendo Switch

Get ready to feel the G's, but don't lose consciousness.

SEGA has announced today that the next release in the SEGA AGES line of Nintendo Switch updates of their classic arcade and console library will be G-LOC Air Battle, a spiritual successor/spin-off of the famed After Burner series that was released to arcades by Yu Suzuki and AM2 in 1990.

Taking control of an experimental aircraft, you’ll take on a series of timed missions which will see you dodging and weaving your way around gunfire and enemy pilots.

New to the SEGA AGES release will be a screen option designed to recreate the feeling of the hydraulic-powered cabinet originally seen in arcades, an AGES Mode which adds more enemies, missiles, and features a “more powerful” lock-on system, as well as an online leaderboard that will let you show all the other armchair pilots who the real top gun is. Additionally, multiple difficulty settings will allow you to tailor the challenge to your preference — whether it be something a little milder, or so intense that you lose consciousness*.

(* Note: You will probably not lose consciousness. Any loss of consciousness while playing is likely not the direct result of playing this game. Also, I am not a lawyer, I’ve just played one in video games.)

Be ready to strap in when SEGA AGES G-LOC Air Battle arrives in the Nintendo Switch eShop on April 30th, 2020.

In case you didn’t pick up on it, “G-LOC” refers to “G-force induced Loss Of Consciousness,” hence all the references to losing consciousness. There, I just saved you a trip to Google. You’re welcome.
