SEGA releasing Dragon Coins on iOS, Android

You know those coin pusher games that are found in every Chuck E. Cheese across America? The ones where you pop a quarter in, and you just know that once the pusher places it upon the giant heap of coins, you’ll be a sure-fire winner. Except that you never, ever win. Ever.

Anyway, SEGA has taken the concept of the coin pusher and combined it with an RPG to create Dragon Coins, which was released for free today on iOS and Android devices.

During the game, you’ll place┬ácoins on the battlefield, where the pusher drops them to your monsters. Once each monster receives its required coins (ie casting cost), it will attack your enemies, and you can build combos and use your monster’s special powers that can significantly alter the battlefield, boosting your team’s attributes or effecting your enemy’s.

To add to the game’s strategy element, you’ll need to pick the right group of monsters to take with you in battle and level them up by fusing them with fellow monsters. Eventually, you’ll be able to evolve your monsters once they reach a required level, where they become even more powerful.

Dragon Coins is somewhat similar to a Prope-developed coin pusher called Power of Coin, which was released in February.

I’ve been playing the game for the past few days, and it’s actually been fairly entertaining, although the lengthy tutorial was a bit of a chore to get through. Expect a full review in the coming days.
