Sonic CD’s “You Can Do Anything” given nautical treatment with new Team Sonic Racing track

Sonic’s got a new song to put on his Spring Break playlist. It doesn’t sound the same as he might remember, and instead of playing it on his boombox as he’s catching rays, he’ll be using it as an empowerment anthem to give him and his team the confidence boost they need to win first place.

SEGA has released a new track for Team Sonic Racing called Ocean View, complete with luxurious sand, shiny blue ocean waters, and sun-bathing organic and robotic sea creatures jumping over Sonic and the other racers. To complement this nautical racecourse, Jun Senoue collaborated with Richard Jacques to create an instrumental version of “You Can Do Anything,” the opening theme of the Japanese and PAL versions of Sonic CD.

Both versions of “You Can Do Anything” (aka “Toot Toot Sonic Warrior”) may sound similar, but that’s only in the beginning. The only difference between the two is Senoue’s usual brand of heavy guitar riffs.

Team Sonic Racing releases May 21, 2019 on PS4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch.
