Sonic Prime is the name of Netflix’s new Sonic the Hedgehog animated series

We just learned in December that Netflix was working on a new Sonic the Hedgehog animated series. In some unfortunate news, we also learned recently that long-time Sonic the Hedgehog voice actor Roger Craig Smith would no longer be voicing the Blue Blur, after 10 years of doing so.

All that leads us to today, where Netflix has announced on social media that the new Sonic series will be called Sonic Prime. *cue the Transformers jokes*

What we know so far is the series will be developed by Wildbrain and Man of Action Entertainment, in coordination with SEGA, and it will be released in 2022. Sonic’s last animated series was Sonic Boom, which premiered in November 2014 and aired for two seasons.
