Fans have been clamoring for a sequel to Sonic Adventure for years. While SEGA has not made that dream come true just yet, some people decided to take matters into their own hands. For those who don’t know, a wonderful little game called Dreams was released last year.
Created by Media Molecule, Dreams puts you in the shoes of a game designer. Players across the globe can share their user-generated content, with a gargantuan amount of resources at one’s disposal. So many wonderful creations were birthed. I have no idea how any of you do it.
Dreams users RichMenace_94 and 1 collaborator put their brains together to create their version of Sonic Adventure. In the video (which you can see above), those old Dreamcast vibes shine through. I loved that effect when Sonic ran across that ocean with the slightly muted soundtrack permeating in the background. The combination of sound effects, music, and level design seriously reminds me of the first Dreamcast title.
This project is still ongoing, and they plan on making Version 1.1 for PlayStation 5. If you have your own copy of Dreams, you can get a look at Sonic Adventure: Dreams Edition here.
